Hispanic-owned  brand TUYYO is the latest recipient of the Non-GMO Project’s Equitable Transfer Program (ETP). The initiative provides $10,000, supporting  equity and inclusion in the natural products industry by covering or offsetting Non-GMO Project verification costs for Black, Indigenous, multiracial, and people of color (BIMPOC)-led brands.

“TU Y YO” means ‘you and me’ in Spanish; the company’s mission is to bring people together over authentic, healthful food,” noted Stefanie Garcia Turner, founder and first-generation Mexican-American entrepreneur. The verification will build trust in the clean-ingredient powdered beverages TUYYO offers to Hispanic communities, which have high obesity and diabetes rates due to limited access to nutritious, affordable food.

Non-GMO Project founder and CEO Megan Westgate said, “Through the Equitable Transfer Program, and partners like TUYYO, we’re building a future where transparency and cultural heritage [help create]…a food system that truly nourishes all life.”
