Plant-based protein ingredient provider Purely Canada Foods Corp., a subsidiary of Above Food Corp., has purchased a high-capacity grain and protein ingredient processing terminal in Kindersley, west central Saskatchewan. The facility will be able to process and ship up to 100,000 metric tons of value-added grain and protein ingredients.
Senior pulse manager David Nobbs looks forward to working with the producers of high-quality peas, lentils, canary seed, and mustard abundant in the region.
Purely Canada purchases, processes, transports, and merchandises Identity Preserved ingredients from Regina and Saskatoon, Southern Alberta, and Southern Ontario to global customers in North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. The company owns Canada’s largest certified organic facility.
Purely Canada merged in October 2020 with Above Food Brands (also an Above Foods Corp. subsidiary), manufacturer of plant-based meat and dairy brands. This will grant Above Food access to new nutrient-dense proteins, including lentils, chickpeas, fava, peas, and oats, from seed all the way through to the end consumer’s dinner plate.
