U.S. sales of certified organic products reached $76.6 billion in 2025, increasing 6.8% from the previous year and growing at roughly twice the rate of the overall marketplace, according to the Organic Trade Association’s 2026 Organic Market Report. The broader market grew 3.4% during the same period.
Organic food sales totaled $70.1 billion, representing a 7% increase and accounting for 6.1% of total U.S. food sales. The results mark the third consecutive year that organic sales have outpaced growth in the conventional marketplace, suggesting continued consumer demand despite ongoing economic pressures.
Produce remained the largest organic category, generating $22.7 billion in sales and accounting for nearly 30% of the organic market. Berry sales exceeded $4.4 billion, while organic citrus and banana sales posted double digit growth. Other strong performing categories included dairy and eggs, which increased 13% to $9.6 billion, and beverages, which rose 7% to $10.2 billion.
Several subcategories recorded particularly strong gains. Organic egg sales increased 22%, organic yogurt rose 17%, and organic beef sales climbed 44% to reach $1.4 billion.
The Organic Trade Association forecasts that organic sales will grow by nearly $24 billion over the next five years, surpassing $100 billion by 2030.
