California leads the U.S. in organic food production

The state of California accounts for 36% of all national organic production, with production and sales of organic projected to continue that growth.
2020 saw organic sales totaling $11.9 billion, an increase from 2019 of 14%. The counties of Monterey, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Kern, and Merced were the top five counties in terms of overall gross sales for 2020.
California farm acreage jumped 22% from 2014 to 2020—from 1,796,080 acres to 2,186,551 acres.
