The global market for organic seeds, valued at approximately $4.9 billion in 2024, is projected to grow to $7.7 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 7.6 percent. Rising demand reflects increased interest in non-GMO and chemical-free crop inputs across both commercial and small-scale farms.
Analysts attribute the growth to consumer preference for organic food, heightened awareness of the environmental and health impacts of synthetic pesticides, and strengthening regulatory frameworks and certification standards in key regions. Advances in organic seed breeding have produced higher-yielding, more resilient varieties, expanding adoption among production-oriented growers.
Organic seeds are used widely in fruits, vegetables, grains, and herbs. Organic grains such as wheat and quinoa are gaining traction amid the expanding market for plant-based and health-focused foods. The seeds also support regenerative agriculture practices, promoting soil health and biodiversity.
Regionally, the United States market was valued at roughly $1.3 billion in 2024, while China’s organic seed sector is forecast to grow at a double-digit rate through 2030. Urban farming initiatives, community gardens, and sustainable livestock feed production are further contributing to retail and specialty demand, broadening the addressable market for organic seeds globally.
