Grand Etal Bio, producer and marketer of 100% organic products, has joined Too Good To Go, a Danish phone app that connects users with organic fruits and vegetables at reduced prices.
Ten million tons of food are thrown away every year, 42% of them vegetables and fruits.
“Today, most professionals want quality to the detriment of certain fruit and vegetables that only present some minor defects and are therefore still healthy and good for consumption,” explains Mélissa Gea, sales manager at Grand Etal Bio.
Too Good To Go offers baskets of produce that were rejected due to imperfections such as holes, spots, or small size. The partnership allows Grand Etal Bio to sell produce from growers other than its own clients. Recently, it sold 30 baskets in two weeks that were picked up by customers at appointment times.
“This solution allows everyone to eat organic, and it is another one of our goals, as an organic producer. Last week, a father came to pick up a basket, delighted to be able to feed organic fruit and vegetables to his four children, which he normally cannot afford,” Gea said.
