According to the Organic Produce Network’s State of Organic Produce 2025 report, organic produce remained the largest category in organic food retailing in 2025, generating more than $22 billion in annual sales and accounting for nearly 30% of all organic food purchases.

1. Berries

Berries remained the top selling organic produce category with annual sales exceeding $2 billion. Strawberries continued to lead the segment. Organic berries also ranked among the fastest growing produce categories by volume.

2. Packaged Salads

Packaged salads maintained their position as the second largest organic produce category. Retailers reported steady demand for convenient, ready to eat organic options despite ongoing pricing pressures in the fresh produce aisle.

3. Apples

Organic apples ranked third in sales and continued to be a staple category for organic shoppers. The category benefited from strong domestic production and broad retail distribution across major markets.

4. Bananas

Organic bananas moved into fourth place in 2025, reflecting continued growth in one of the most widely purchased organic products. Industry analysts noted that bananas remain a key entry point for consumers purchasing organic produce.

5. Herbs and Spices

Fresh organic herbs and spices rounded out the top five categories. Growth was supported by consumer interest in home cooking, fresh ingredients, and premium culinary products.
